When Skunks Are Most Active

Skunks mate in late winter, which is when you may notice more smell. Babies are born in late spring, usually May or June, and stay in the den for several weeks. That’s why it’s important to check for young before sealing a den.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my dog gets sprayed?

Keep the dog outside, check its eyes, and wash it with a mix made for skunk odour. Tomato juice doesn’t work well. Call your vet if the eyes stay red.

Can I just block the hole myself?

Only if you’re sure no skunk or babies are inside. Blocking an animal in can cause damage and a very bad smell. We check first.

Will skunks spray during removal?
